Tauranga (NZ) horses tips & previews

We head to Tauranga for the Ultimate Mazda Mdn over 1600m, scheduled to jump at 12:49 pm AEDT. Looking at the win market order, Passion 'N' Pride holds the mantle as the shortest runner in the race, closely followed by Artful Dodger, Unswayed, and Compulsory rounding out the top four in the early betting sequence. This maiden field brings together a diverse mix of runners looking to break through over the mile, and opinions are sure to be split as punters try to unpack a tricky contest where the value sits with those who can step up at this trip.

The leading end of the market features some intriguing form profiles and key jockey-trainer combinations. Passion 'N' Pride represents the stable of Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson with Cooper Stumbles taking the ride from barrier 9, while Artful Dodger lines up for trainer C R Mccarroll with Sam Mcnab in the saddle from barrier 10. Unswayed is another prominently quoted runner, prepared by Conor and Sarah Fahy with Michael Mc Nab booked in barrier 14, and Compulsory is set to jump from barrier 6 for trainers Tim and Margaret Carter with Craig Grylls steering. These contenders draw plenty of attention based on their market prominence, though sorting through their credentials is the primary challenge for finding the winner.

Digging deeper into the race, we find several other runners looking to cause an upset from more favourable or testing alleys. Haiku jumps from barrier 2 with Samantha Collett for trainer Ms S Hale, Supa Get starts from barrier 3 with George Rooke for J C Pender, and Miles Better exits barrier 8 under Masahiro Hashizume for R R Manning. Further down the order, Our Shocks, Singe, In Tune, Echo Two, The Pen Is Mighty, Awaken, and Kairos complete the capacity lineup. With so many variables across the 1600m journey, fortune favours the bold for anyone willing to step away from the very top of the market and hunt for overs elsewhere in the field.
